June Newsletter

Collective Calling

Dear Valued Partner,

We hope this message finds you well. First, we’d like to apologise for the delay in sharing our May report. Sometimes, the meaningful work happening on the ground takes a little extra time to reflect and report on with the care it deserves.

Thank you for standing with us as we continue to bring hope, dignity, and healing to those who need it most. The video below shows the impact we have had in the last 6 months and gives a glimpse into the lives being transformed and the hope we’re building together.

As we look back on May, we’re grateful for all that has been achieved, from rescuing vulnerable children and providing them with a safe haven, to walking alongside our homeless friends on the Costa del Sol through our Mobile Shower outreach. Every act of kindness, every moment of restoration, has been made possible because of your faithful support.

Thank you for standing with us as we continue to bring hope, dignity, and healing to those who need it most.

Blessings

Paul & Gemma Carr

Spain

In May, our Mobile Shower Unit continued to bring dignity and hope to our homeless friends in Málaga, offering hot showers, clean towels, and a reminder that they are not forgotten.

We’re also in active discussions with Estepona Town Hall to expand this vital service to those in need locally. Every shower is more than hygiene, it’s a step toward restoration.

Thank you for helping us serve with love, one shower at a time.

Boho Summer Garden Gala – A Night of Purpose & Beauty

A Safe Haven for Five Children

In May, the Centre of Hope was once again called upon by the government to provide emergency shelter for five children, not just cases of poverty, but of survival.

Four siblings were rescued after enduring repeated trauma at home, where their mother, suffering from severe mental illness, had become a danger to them. She regularly destroyed their belongings, locked them inside, and even attempted to burn the house with them inside. Thankfully, neighbours intervened, and the government referred the children to the Centre, where they are now safe and receiving care.

Another child, spent his first 10 years living on the streets with his mentally ill mother. He survived on leftovers and handouts, and was prevented from attending school. Now at the Centre, Shabani has new clothes, hygiene supplies, and is finally enrolled in a special program at Kidyama Primary School.

All five children now have access to safety, daily meals, counselling, and the opportunity to learn and heal.

Their stories are a sobering reminder of how untreated mental illness can tear families apart, and how safe places like the Centre of Hope are essential for breaking cycles of trauma.

Because of your support, they now have a future filled with hope.

Teeing Off for a Cause – Thank You, Golfinfo.com

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved - players, donors, and sponsors - this event will help us continue providing vital care and support to street children in Tanzania and the homeless community here in Spain.

We are so grateful to Golfinfo.com, Spence Clarke & Co, and all who contributed to making this event a success. Together, we are changing lives!

Emotional & Psychological Healing

In May, our focus on emotional and psychological support played a crucial role in helping children begin their journey toward healing.

Counselling Provided:

  • 1 Individual session

  • 2 Group sessions

  • 35 children at the Centre of Hope received group counselling

  • 5 newly rescued children received targeted emotional support during intake

🧠 Why it Matters:
Many of our children have faced deep trauma - abuse, abandonment, and instability. Our counselling sessions are designed to:

  • Promote emotional stability

  • Encourage healthy expression of feelings

  • Support safe integration of newly rescued children

  • Provide tools for children to feel secure and hopeful

👥 Group Counselling Focus:
This month, we helped children strengthen their cooperation and interactions, especially in welcoming newcomers. They were reminded of the house rules and encouraged to show kindness and acceptance to those joining the Centre.

🧍‍♀️ Individual Counselling Highlights:
Each new child received one-on-one time to talk through their fears and experiences - most notably, children whose mothers suffer from mental health issues. These sessions focused on helping them understand that mental illness is an illness, and that even when a parent’s actions are harmful, it doesn’t mean they don’t love their children.

A simple message was shared:
"Just like our bodies can get sick, so can our minds. It’s okay to feel confused or scared. You are now safe, and you are not alone."

🌱 Healing takes time, but with love, structure, and faith, these children are beginning to find their voice, and their peace.

Thank you for making this vital work possible.

Restoring Dignity, One Shower and One Hug at a Time

This powerful moment captures the heart of what our mobile shower project is all about.

More than just a place to wash, our mobile shower is a place of connection, hope, and human dignity. For many of our homeless friends on the Costa del Sol, it’s the first time in a long time someone has looked them in the eyes, listened to their story, and reminded them they matter.

Pictured here is Melanie from The Wave Church, embracing one of our homeless friends, a simple gesture that speaks volumes. This is love in action.

Together with our incredible partners and volunteers, we’re creating a space where people can feel seen, heard, and loved. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible.

Let’s continue to meet people where they are, one shower, one prayer, and one act of compassion at a time.

We’re so grateful to be featured in Euro Weekly News for our Mobile Shower initiative, which is bringing dignity, hope, and love to our homeless friends across the Costa del Sol.

Thank you to everyone who supports this mission and to Euro Weekly for helping shine a light on the importance of restoring dignity—one shower at a time.

In June, we had the incredible opportunity to speak at a Rotary International event. Gemma and Melanie Anne Kettner-Borough shared the heart behind Collective Calling and the impact of our work both in Spain and Tanzania.

It was an uplifting evening filled with meaningful conversation, shared values, and exciting ideas for future collaboration. We’re deeply thankful for the warm invitation and the chance to connect with such passionate changemakers.

This marks the beginning of something promising—stay tuned, there’s more to come!
